What do you know about Orphan Trains? There are only two orphan train museums in existence and St. Landry Parish has one of them!

Get on the bus with us as we travel to Opelousas to learn the history of the Louisiana orphan trains and their riders, as well as the families who took them in. The docents at the museum are descendants of Orphan Train riders and they tell their tales with love and remembrance.

On our way to Opelousas we will stop in the community of Grand Coteau to see the historic all-girls school, Sacred Heart. Sister Barbara Moreaux will tell us about the history of the school and show us around the campus.

Then we’ll get back on the road to Opelousas and the Orphan Train Museum.

Afterwards, we’ll have lunch at Café Josephine (ooh la la!) in Sunset. All in all, it should be a wonderful day. $84 (includes lunch)
