Louisiana's Architectural Styles

ID : 10890
« back to classes page
As a resident of Louisiana, have you been wondering about the style of your house or that of your neighbor? If you own an older home, do you know the reason behind its style of architecture? Is it Acadian, a Creole Cottage, Colonial French, a Craftsman, Gothic, or Victorian? An amalgamation? This course will attempt to answer those questions, along with defining terms no longer in use, such as “drawing room,” “parlor,” and “larder.” You’ll develop a greater understanding and appreciation for the varied architectural styles of our area, and hopefully develop an interest in preservation.
