« back to classes page
This course is designed for high schoolers whether they are being home schooled, or are in a public or a parochial setting. The class is meant to engage students in the art of argument. The question is: have you ever heard an argument that just didn’t seem right? Maybe you knew that the argument was flawed, but you weren’t sure what was wrong with it, or how to address it. We are bombarded with fallacies every day. They come to us through advertising, popular media, friends, and authority figures. In this course, the students will learn most common fallacies, and how to recognize them. They will study reasoning gone wrong, in an attempt to learn how to make reasoning go right!
