What do you really know about sugarcane? In this Daycation offering, we’ll thoroughly explore the topic. We’ll take a trip to Iberia Parish where our first stop will be a sugarcane field during harvest season. From there we’ll head to Cajun Sugar Mill to learn about the grinding process. Retired sugarcane farmer, Joe Judice, will join us on our journey. He’ll take us through the cycle of sugarcane, from planting to harvest and beyond. He’ll tell you about the day to day life of a sugarcane farmer, the economic impact of this valuable crop and a little of its history. Our Daycation plans include lunch at quaint and scenic St. John’s Restaurant in St. Martinville. Get on the bus and join us for a fun and fascinating Sugarcane Daycation!
