Certified Bookkeeper Program

The Department of Continuing Education at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette offers the distinguished Certified Bookkeeper Program. Certified Bookkeepers are to bookkeeping what CPAs are to accounting: the elite of the profession. With that reflection, one quickly realizes becoming a Certified Bookkeeper can enhance your professional status and build your credibility as it verifies one’s ability to execute in-demand skills while meeting high, national standards.
This course will focus on preparing you for the national Certified Bookkeeper examination. It will help you master the skills and knowledge required for certification by the American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers http://www.aipb.org/.
Some of the skills you will learn are:
- adjusting entries (accruals and deferrals)
- book and tax depreciation
- basic payroll
- recording and costing out merchandise inventory
- internal controls and fraud prevention
Examination fees are not included. Please note: Prerequisites for this program include Levels I and II of Bookkeeper Essentials and a solid working knowledge of bookkeeping principles and practices. Permission to take this course without the prerequisites may only be given by the Department Coordinator & Instructor.
